As you know software update is not always a good thing. You probably want to make sure it is safe before installing iOS 12 software update. Disable iOS Software Updates and Prompts
The most effective way to block iOS 12 updates notification would be to install an up-to-date Apple TV OS profile on your iPhone or iPad. The profile is very small and takes no time to download. once that’s installed, you will not see annoying iOS software update prompts and no iOS updates will be downloaded in the background.
Sound good? Follow the steps below to get started.
Step 1. If you have an Apple Developer account, head over to Apple developer’s website and download the tvOS beta configuration profile. If not, simply use your iOS device to open this link in Safari.
Step 2. From Safari, you will see the Install option and tap on it to continue.
Step 3. Input your device password when you are prompted to.
Step 4. Then confirm to install this profile. Once that’s done, you will be asked to restart the iPhone. Just tap OK to restart your iPhone or iPad.
Of course, you can restart your iPhone later. This will only take effect after a restart. If you do not ever delete this profile, you will never receive iOS software update notification. To make sure this is working, you can go to Settings > General > Software Update to see the status.
As you see it tells you that the software is up to date, which is apparently not. That means you will no longer receive any iOS 12 software updates on your iPhone. If you ever want to receive updates, just delete this profile.
Turn off Automatic Software Updates Downloads
If you think the previous method is not safe, then you can disable automatic updates, so no updates will be downloaded without your consent. On iOS 12, you simply disable it from Settings. You can refer it to the following steps.
Step 1. Go to Settings. In the Settings menu, select General.
Step 2. Select Software Update. Then it will check for Software updates.
Step 3. Tap on Automatic Updates to turn it off.
If you also want to turn off apps automatic updates, the select iTunes & App Stores from the Settings menu. Then find the Automatic Downloads option, change the slider to off.
Remove iOS 12/12.1 Software Update Package
If the iOS 12 update package is automatically downloaded, it will pop up to remind you whenever available (enough power and connected to Wi-Fi). You can manually remove the update package to turn off iPhone update notification.
Step 1. Go to Settings, and select General > iPhone Storage. This also applies to the previous version of iOS. If you are using iOS 11 or earlier, just select Storage & iCloud Storage instead.
Step 2. Look at all the items and find the software update package, which should be one of the top 3 results.
Step 3. Tap on the iOS 12 update file and then tap on “Delete Update”.
After deleting the package, you will not be prompted to install iOS 12 update. Of course, this also helps you free up space on iPhone. This is a very simple and safe procedure to disable iOS 12 update notification popups.
