Notice:

1.       Wait hours first to give your iPhone some time to complete background processes after iOS 12 update and check whether the battery drain is stable before using the methods provided below.

2.       Before reading on, please make issue the iPhone battery percentage monitor (on the upper right on the screen) is turned on. Otherwise, please go to “Settings” > “Battery” > “Battery Percentage” and toggle it on.

Now, let's see how to improve iOS 12 battery life.

Method 1 Disable Background App Refresh

Background App Refresh is a great feature which allows Apps on your iPhone to keep refresh their contents even after shut down. For example, Waze is a navigation App and it will keep track of you and refresh your location when it’s unused.

However, this feature sometimes makes the battery drain fast. Especially when applied to some poorly developed ones. In this case, you might as well shut this feature down and check whether the situation gets better.

Go to “Settings” > “General” > “Background App Refresh” and toggle it off.

Method 2 Enable Low Power Mode

Low Power Mode can make your iPhone last longer when the battery power is low. Apple claims that battery life can be improved up to 3 additional hours after the mode is turned on. But remember, after the mode is enabled, it might take longer time for some Apps to update and some tasks might not work until you turn the mode off.

Go to “Settings” > “Battery” > “Low Power Mode” and toggle it on.

Hint: After Low Power Mode is turned on, the battery percentage monitor on the upper right will become yellow.

Go to “Settings” > “General” > “Accessibility” > “Display Accommodations” > “Auto Brightness” to turn it off.

Method 4 Turn Email Fetch off

If the mail Apps on your iPhone keeps receiving messages automatically, the battery can also drain fast. To turn this feature off, go to “Settings” > “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” > “Fetch New Data” and toggle it off.

Method 5 Place Your iPhone Face down

This feature is applied to iPhone 5S and later versions.

When your iPhone receives a message or a notification when facing down which means you aren’t going to use it, the screen won’t light up. In this way, a great amount of power can be saved when you’re sleeping or doing other things without your phone.

So, remember to place your iPhone face down when it’s unused.

Method 6 Remove Extra Widgets

If there are too many widgets clogged up on your iPhone/iPad’s lock screen, the battery can be consumed a lot as well. So, always remember to remove widgets you don’t often use to save the power. Follow the steps below.

Swipe right on the lock screen, tap on “Edit” at the bottom, locate the widget that you don’t want and tap on “-“ to remove it.

If none of the methods above work and the iOS 12 battery still drains too fast, be sure to check whether you have updated the phone to the latest iOS 12 versions for Apple always keep it up to date to fix existing bugs.

How to improve iOS 12 battery life? I know it’s a big hassle when iPhone battery drains fast every time you update the software. So, I hope this tutorial helps you out in some respect because all the ways mentioned are collected from users who also encounter this kind of problem and should be practical enough to fix it.
