Apple pushed out iOS 11.3 beta 2 earlier this time. The new iOS 11.3 beta 2 adds previously promised “Battery Health” monitor feature, which can offer iPhone users more detailed information about their iOS device batteries.
Once users update to iOS 11.3 beta 2, then they can go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health (Beta) to check the information of the battery maximum capacity and Peak Performance capability. Besides, it’ll inform users whether the battery needs to be replaced, or the performance management mode can be disabled.

According to Apple, if the device battery was unable to deliver the necessary peak power, then Performance management protection will limit the processor performance.
So far, this Battery Health feature applied to iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Apple said that iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X adopt different performance management system, so the battery health monitor feature in iOS 11.3 beta 2 has no obvious impact on the three devices.
Many users are quite happy with this new feature. But note that, Performance management protection mode will only be turned on after an unexpected shutdown first occurs on their iOS devices with a battery that has diminished ability to deliver maximum instantaneous power.
In iOS 11.3 beta 2, users can disable Performance management protection manually to restore their iOS devices’ peak performance. But the feature cannot be manually turned back on until another unexpected shutdown happens.
Generally, with this Battery Health feature, the system adjusts users’ iPhone based on the battery and performance situations. Now, the Battery Health is still a beta feature in iOS 11.3 beta 2. We would like to see some updates when the public version is available.
