How to Fix iPhone Unable to Verify Update

Method 1 Quit Settings App

Before using more complex solutions, first, try quitting “Settings” App and restart it.

1.       Double-tap on the home button.

2.       Find “Settings” App.

3.       Swipe it up to shut it down.

4.       Go to “Settings” > “General” > “Software Update” to see whether it works now.

Tips: For iPhone X users, they should swipe up from the gesture area, long press the App until “-“ emerges and swipe the App away. Also, they can tap on the icon to close the App.

The latest iOS 12.1.3 requires a 300 MB storage. In this case, if your iPhone has not enough storage left, the update can fail you.

So, in the first place, check whether there is enough storage on the device if you’re unable to verify update iPhone.

Go to “Settings” > “General” and check “Available” tag. If the storage left is less than 300 MB, try finding some third-party program like IOTransfer to clean the device and delete extra cookies and cache files.

Some people respond after resetting network settings, the problem is easily fixed. You might as well try this way but remember to memorize the WiFi passwords for the resetting will wipe out all the history data.

Go to “Settings” > “General” > “Reset” > “Reset Network Settings”. Enter the passcode and confirm the action when prompted.

It might be the software that causes the problem of iPhone unable to verify update. If all the methods provided above offers no help, you can try removing the update on your device and reinstall it.

For iPhone 8 and Earlier:

Go to “General” > “Storage & iCloud Usage” > “Manage Storage”. Find the item “Software Update” and open it. Tap on “Delete Update” and confirm it to proceed.

For iPhone:

Go to “Settings” > “General” > “iPhone Storage” and select “Software Update” to delete it.

After deleting the update, go to “Settings” > “General” > “Software Update” again to install the latest iOS software.

If you’re unable to verify update or can’t install the update successfully for other reasons, you might as well try iTunes.

1.       Connect your iPhone to PC via a USB cable and launch iTunes in the latest version.

2.       Click on the iPhone icon and click on “Check for Update” under the summary tab. If there is an update found, follow the onscreen guide to proceed.
