Apple offers only 5GB free iCloud storage and multiple add-on plans as well. You can manage your iCloud storage or buy more if you reach or exceed the limit.  Manage and delete unwanted photos from iCloud can effectively free up more storage. So, how to delete photos from iCloud? This article will answer this question and show you how to delete photos from iCloud.

iCloud Photo Library/Photo Stream/iCloud Photo Sharing

Before discussing how to delete photos from iCloud, there are some things you need to figure out: iCloud Photo Library, iCloud Photo Stream and iCloud Photo Sharing. Let’s make it very quick.

iCloud Photo Library: it automatically keeps all your photos and videos saved in iCloud and up to date on all your Apple devices, so you are able to access your library and iCloud photos from any devices and anytime you want. iCloud Photo Library uses iCloud storage allotment.

My Photo Stream (iCloud Photo Stream): it uploads and stores most recent 1000 photos for 30 days. iCloud Photo Stream need to work with iCloud Photo Library. Once you enable iCloud Photo Library, all the photos you add to My Photo Stream (iCloud Photo Stream) from your iPhone, iPad, iPod or Mac will appear in the Photo Stream album in the Photos app. Photo Stream will not occupy your iCloud storage allotment.

iCloud Photo Sharing: with iCloud Photo Sharing, you can share photos and videos with other people you choose, at the same time, you can let them add their own photos, videos as well as comments.

How to Delete Photos from iCloud

If you have already turned on iCloud Photo Library on your devices or Mac, then you can delete iCloud photos from iCloud Photo Library.

1.       Go to iCloud.com > Photos > select photos > click delete icon

2.       Open Photos app on your iPhone, iPad or iPod, tap Photos at the bottom of the screen, then view your photos by moments, select and delete.

If you did not enable iCloud Photo Library on your iOS devices or Mac, you can delete photos from the Camera Roll album directly. As the result, they will no longer be included in iCloud backup.

Go to Photos app > Albums > Camera Roll, select photos and delete.
