Download Music from Apple Music – Ultimate Guide with Images

If you want to enjoy music everywhere even when the internet is unavailable, you can download music from Apple Music for offline listening. It is also a great practice to save iPhone cellar data by downloading Apple Music songs only on Wi-Fi.

Apple Music provides three plans, personal plan (9.99$/month), family plan (14.99$/month), and student plan (4.99$/month). If you are not a student, then the family plan is very affordable because you can add anyone to your Apple Music family plan, up to 6 members.  

Download Apple Music Songs to Listen Offline

Apple Music offline songs take storage space, roughly 7MB per song. Since iPhone’s storage plan starts at 32GB, you have enough storage to download many songs from Apple Music.

After subscribing to Apple Music, you can follow the steps below to download music from Apple Music.

Step 1. Turn on iCloud Music Library if it is not turned on. Go to Settings and scroll down to select Music. Then toggle on the option iCloud Music Libray.

Step 2. Add a song, music video, or a playlist to your Libray in Apple Music. The download option will not be available unless you add the item to Libray. It is the same whether you use Apple Music app on iPhone/iPad or use iTunes on PC/Mac.

Step 3. Once you add the music content to Library, you can see the download button. Tap or click on the download button to download music content from Apple Music. You can also go to your Library to save music offline.

Automatically Download Music Added to Your Library

If you want all music content in Library to be available for offline listening, there is an option to automatically download music when added to your Library. Just to Settings > Music and turn on the option Automatic Downloads.

What Happens to the Downloaded Music When I Cancel Subscription?

Apple Music provides streaming (online playing) service. You do not actually own the music downloaded from Apple Music. Unlike the songs you purchased from iTunes, you just rent the music.

When you cancel Apple Music subscription, the songs downloaded will remain on your device but become unplayable. The music content is protected by DRM and saved in M4p file format.

Add Music from Other Sources to iPhone Music

Apple Music catalog differs from country to country. You may find some songs or artists not available in Apple Music. In that case, to collect all your favorite music, you can transfer music you downloaded or purchased from another source to iPhone or iPad, so you can play all your favorite music with Apple Music app.
