If you use Google Drive on your iOS device, you should know that you can easily save videos, and photos to your iPhone Camera Roll. If you do not use Google Drive, you can also download shared video/photos from google drive to iPhone without the Google Drive app.

In this article, I will show you how to download video from Google Drive to iPhone Camera Roll. Of course, you can also use these methods to download other files from Google Drive and use them on another app.

Step 4. If you want to download the Google Drive video to Camera Roll, simply tap on Save Video.

From there, you can also send the video to other apps. If you want to save it to Files or other location, you can select the Open in option instead of Send a Copy. If you just want it to be available offline on your iPhone, you can simply toggle on the option Available offline.

If you just want to download a shared file a friend send to you on your iPhone, then you do not need to install the Google Drive app on your iOS device to get it done.

Download Google Drive Shared Files without the App

When someone shares a video or photo with you via Google Drive, and you do not have Google Drive installed on your iPhone or you do not even have a Google drive account, what would you do?

Don’t worry. You can simply use a Siri shortcut to download files from Google Drive on your iOS device. If you have watched the WWDC 2018 event, you would remember the Siri Shortcuts feature that automates many things you do.

With Shortcuts, you can get things that would take serval steps done within one or more taps.  You can download the standalone Shortcuts app to create and use all your shortcuts. Let’s see how it works.

Step 1. Download the Shortcuts app from AppStore and get this Shortcut Google Drive Downloader.

Step 2. Copy the link of the Google Drive video.

Step 3. Open the Shortcuts app and run this shortcut.

Step 4. Then you will be prompted to confirm the link and file name. After that, you can choose to save the Google Drive video to Camera Roll or Files.

Besides videos and photos, this shortcut also allows you to download other files from Google Drive including MP3, AAC, PDF, etc. If the shortcut detects the file you want to download is a compressed file, this shortcut will also extract the file and allow you to open it in other apps.

This shortcut is powerful. If you are interested, you can also add action to this shortcut to extract audio from video you downloaded from Google Drive or convert it to GIF. It will do the trick by adding a few actions to this shortcut.

However, if you want to save the downloaded video to the TV app, neither this shortcut nor Google app can help you. In that case, you can use iPhone transfer software for Windows, IOTransfer, to download videos from YouTube , Facebook and other websites to your iOS device.
