Microsoft will kill off support for Windows 10 Mobile on Dec. 10, 2019 and recommend customers move to a supported Android or iOS device. In this article, I will show you how to transfer Windows phone to iPhone along with all the data including contacts, photos, videos, music, etc.
Backup Everything with OneDrive
Apple has made it easy for those who want to move to iOS from Windows or Android. If you have been using Microsoft accounts to manage your contacts, calendar, and email, you can sync them to your iPhone.
If you want to transfer everything on your Windows phone to an iOS device, the best way would be using OneDrive to backup everything on your Windows phone and sync them to your iPhone. You can follow the steps below to backup Windows 10 Mobile phone with OneDrive.
Step 1. On your Windows phone, open Settings, and click on Accounts > Your email and accounts. Then sign in to your outlook account if you haven’t.
Step 2. Once signed in, turn on automatic backup on your Windows phone to ensure that your photos, texts and app data are saved to OneDrive.
Step 3. Open OneDrive, tap on Menu > Settings, make sure the Camera Upload option is turned on.
Step 4. If you also want to sync text messages, navigate to Settings > System > Messaging. Under the “History and Sync”, toggle on the option Sync Messages between devices.
When all that are backed up to OneDrive, you can use set up your new iPhone. You will need to sign in your Apple ID. If you have none, you will have to create one. Once the initial setup is complete, you can download the OneDrive and Outlook for iOS on your iPhone.
Then you can find all the photos on OneDrive and you can use Outlook to sync your contacts.
Transfer Contacts from Windows Phone to iPhone
For those who only want to transfer contacts from Windows phone to iPhone, you can export all you contact to an CSV file and then import it to your iPhone. I believe you have already sign in to your Outlook account. After that, you can follow the steps below to move all contacts to iPhone.
Step 1. Open your browser and navigate to login.live.com. login in to your account.
Step 2. At the left bottom menu, click on People, and select all the contacts that you want to transfer to iPhone.
Step 3. Click on Manage and select Export Contacts from the dropdown menu. Then a csv file with all your Windows phone contacts will be downloaded on your PC
Step 4. Now it’s time to import all the contacts in the CSV file to your iPhone. To do that, you need iPhone manager software to manage contacts, photos and other files. Here, I recommend IOTransfer. You can free download it now to get started.
Step 5. Connect your iPhone to PC, run IOTransfer, and go to MANAGE > Contacts
Step 6. Click “Import”, select the csv file, and click “Open” to start transferring all contacts to iPhone.
That’s it. All the contacts are move to your iPhone. If you have lots of photos and videos saved on your Windows phone, it is too slow to use a Cloud drive to transfer all that data, not to mention that OneDrive storage space is limited to 5GB for free personal users. In that case, you can use this iPhone Manger software IOTransfer to transfer media files to iPhone.
