Rumors of the Release of iPhone 11

Apple’s iPhone X draws much attention since Sept. last year, for its all-screen design, Face ID, wireless charging and many other advanced new features and technologies. 2018 WWDC will be held in June 4^th, and now people are more interested in Apple’s next iPhone. We call it iPhone 11 temporarily. Here, we summarize the news and rumors of the release of iPhone 11.

3 iPhone Models

Some rumors said that Apple will release 3 iPhone models with all-screen design. The plus-sized one will feature a 6.5-inch display, which makes it the largest iPhone ever; one will retain the same size as the current iPhone X; and the other one will get some features cut for a cheaper price. So far, we still have no idea exactly which features will be cut or replaced.

Some media also predict that Apple will release a new entry-level smartphone – iPhone SE 2 this year, the iOS device may come with glass back and support wireless charging.

iPhone 11 Design – OLED or LCD

It seems that Apple will remove Home button completely this year. According to reports, Apple has already made its order for OLED display in different sizes (5.2-inch, 5.8-inch & 6.5-inch) with Samsung, and LCD display with Japan Display, the company is famous for making Full Active LCD displays. So, Apple may release:

·         6.1-inch budget iPhone 11 with a traditional LCD display screen but Face ID

·         5.8-inch and 6.5-inch iPhone 11 with OLED display and glass back

It makes sense. Currently, OLED display can only be supplied in bulk by Samsung, whose Galaxy smartphone product line is the biggest competitor of iPhone. So it would be easier for Apple to guarantee the supply if one of its iPhone models go back to LCD.

iPhone 11 Battery

Compared with the current iPhone launch, the new iPhone 11 will be featured with more powerful batteries. New iPhone models with OLED display will take advantages of the L-shaped battery design applied in iPhone X, while the LCD-display iPhone will remain rectangular battery design to save budget.

·         5.8-inch iPhone will have a 2,800mAh battery

·         6.5-inch iPhone will have a 3,300 – 3,400mAh battery

Apple introduced wireless charging feature on iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 8. It is believed that at least two new iPhone models in 2018 will come with a glass back and support wireless charging.

Other Rumors of iPhone 11 Release

·         TrueDepth Camera: Mashable has already predicted last year that the upcoming iPhone 11 will not feature TrueDepth 3D rear cameras.

·         iPhone 11 and other 2018 new iPhone models may feature baseband chips from Intel and Qualcomm.

·         New iPhone may feature next-generation 5G wireless technology for incredible data speed improvement.

·         2018 iPhone will be priced at $650 to $800.
