1. Turn off your iPhone
2. Connect iPhone to computer (PC/Mac) and open iTunes
3. Force restart your iPhone and put iPhone in recovery mode (apply to iPhone 6s and earlier models)
· Press and hold Power button until the Apple logo appears on the screen
· Do not release the Power button, press and hold Home button immediately until screen turns into black
· Release Power button and keep holding Home button until iTunes detects your iPhone in recovery mode (you will see the Connect to iTunes screen)
Note: if you are using iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, then use Volume Down button to replace Home button.

Now you can update or restore your iPhone via iTunes. In this way, iTunes will reinstall iOS without erasing your data. If the download takes over 15 minutes, your iPhone will exit recovery mode. You just let the download finish, and repeat the previous steps to put iPhone in recovery mode again.
Or press Shift (Windows users) or Alt (Mac users) and click “Restore iPhone” to install iOS that you’ve already downloaded to restore your iPhone. After your iPhone has been restored, you are able to set it up and recover from iTunes or iCloud backup.
