Backup the iPhone before Factory Resetting

How to change iPhone owner? When the second-hand iPhone comes to your hand, in order to make it look like a brand new one, you will need to reset it. But before this step, we would better back up the iPhone data first in case that some errors or glitches occur after the resetting process. Here I am going to provide 3 ways for iPhone backup.

Back up iOS Data with the Ultimate iPhone Transfer Software

I know when mentioning iPhone backup, iCloud and iTunes come first to your mind. However, this time, they are not the first choice for their critical defects which we will discuss later. Another iPhone transfer software named IOTransfer, which is much more user-friendly and simpler is going to take their place.

IOTransfer, the most versatile iOS backup program, enables you to save iPhone data including videos, music, photos, Apps, PDF files, and so on within only several steps. What you need is a set of PC, a USB cable and the ultimate IOTransfer installed on your PC. That’s all!

Step 1 Connect the iPhone to PC

Install and launch IOTransfer, connect your iPhone to PC via a USB cable and wait until it’s recognized. If the notification “Trust This Computer” pops up, click on “Trust”.

Step 2 Select What You Want to Back up

On the main interface, you can tick off Photos, Music, Videos and Contacts and click on “Transfer to PC” if you only want to back up these 4 categories. If you wish to have a complete backup, click on “MANAGE” on the top, and select all the items in the left list and then click on “Export”.

Back up iPhone with iCloud

Many people tend to use iCloud for its popularity and reputation when talking about iPhone backup. However, as I mentioned above, iCloud has some critical limits itself such as the 5-GB-free storage which is considered to be insufficient nowadays, or sometimes, the warning “The last backup could not be completed” pops up which means a failed backup.

Anyway, let’s still have a look at how iCloud works.

Go to Settings > iCloud > Backup, turn on “iCloud Backup” and then click on “Backup Now”. Wait until the process gets finished. It may take a long time if there are many Apps or other iOS files on your device.

Back up iPhone with iTunes

As for iTunes, it also has some disturbing drawbacks. For instance, users cannot back up a certain kind of file. In other words, if you want to back up iPhone photos to PC, all other files like contacts, videos, and PDF files will be backed up together. This disadvantage can sometimes cause really big trouble!

But since many iOS users think iTunes is their necessity, let’s still have a look at its use.

1.       Open iTunes on PC and connect your iPhone to it.

2.       If a message pops up to ask you for trust or your device passcode, just follow the onscreen guide to continue.

3.       Select your device on the upper left.

4.       Click on “Back Up Now” to get started and wait until the process get completed.
