Apple just recently released a new installment to its operating system, the iOS 11 and the company released a beta version to the public two days ago. Although the app will be officially released by fall this year, users are now able to download the update on their iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
There are a lot of features and improvements included in the new update which includes peer-to-peer payments through Apple Pay, a completely reorganized control center, drag and drop on iPad and smarter notifications with Siri.iPad users will get the most out of iOS 11 and the new operating system turns the iPad into a real laptop replacement which has always been Apple’s goal for the iPad. The iOS 11 makes for increased multitasking on the iPad and even though a lot of people would prefer using a proper laptop, the iOS 11 update however still brings about huge improvements in the iPad.
In this article, we will be discussing the processes you need to follow to download iOS 11 on your Apple device.
1. Back up your device
This is the first thing that you need to do before anything else. This is because the update could still have bugs and even though there are no bugs identified just yet, it does not rule out the fact that they may arise later. In the event that a bug arises that leads to deletion of data, glitches or any other problems, having your data backed up keeps you covered.
It is also advised that if you have another Apple device, download iOS 11 on it.
2. Download iOS 11 on iPhone
iOS 11 beta works only on iPhone 5S upwards so if your iPhone is below iPhone 5S, it is sad that you will not be getting this update. Downloading this update is very easy if you visit the Apple Beta Software Program website, beta.apple.com/profile. All you have to do is sign in with your Apple ID and agree to the Apple Beta Software Program Agreement. Create a new Apple ID if you do not have one.
Select “download profile” which is the configuration profile needed to install the beta. You will get a prompt on your phone and the remaining steps are self-explained. You will then be directed to the settings app where you will tap “Download and Install” to receive the iOS 11 public beta.
3. Download iOS 11 on iPad
The new software is only compatible with iPad Pro and iPad Air and the process is pretty much similar with that of the installation on iPhone. However, make sure your iPad is backed up before you begin the installation process.
4. Download iOS 11 on iPod
Only the iPod 6th generation can download the iOS 11 update and the process on iPod is similar to the ones described above.
However, if you are hesitant to download iOS 11 on your Apple device, the full software will be released later this year during fall when the iPhone 8 is expected to be launched.
