Simply put, cop button is actually an easy and quick way to disable your Touch ID and access “Emergency SOS” setting in iOS 11. It is discovered by a Twitter user in the public beta of iOS 11.
Most iPhone users believe this is good way to deal with law enforcement requests. When you are facing special situations, you can activate cop button to prevent Touch ID from being used until your passcode is entered correctly.
Before iOS 11, you have to go to the Settings or restart your iPhone to disable Touch ID. No doubt, both ways are cumbersome compared to the “cop button” available in iOS 11. It not only allows you to disable Touch ID, but also configure your iPhone to automatically call an emergency number.

How to Use Cop Button in iOS 11
If you iPhone is updated to iOS 11, then you can set up and use cop button by pressing the Sleep/Wake button 5 times. It’ll bring up a slider menu allowing you to place the emergency call.


When you activate cop button, which is a part of Emergency SOS feature, the screen will display two options: slide to power off and SOS Emergency. Then, you choose SOS Emergency option, and follow the steps to enter passcode to re-enable Touch ID.
