In this post, We would show you two ways to unpair your phone from your apple watch and restore your phone factory setting.

Preparing to transfer information from your old iPhone to your new iPhone or you want to do away with your Apple Watch, you would need to unpair your Apple Watch from your old iPhone and pair with the new iPhone.

This can be done in two ways, the first method involves unpairing via the Watch app on your iOS device, the second entails going through the settings on your smartwatch. Let me take your through both steps

Unpairing using Apple Watch and iPhone via the Apple Watch App

Before we delve right into it there are some important things, I would like use to take note of;

1. This is technically the best way to unpair your watch from your iPhone.

2. Unpairing the Apple watch via the Watch app on the iPhone allows all the data on your smartwatch to be backed up on your iOS device. It also allows for easy disable activation lock.

3. Unpairing the Apple Watch deletes all Bluetooth device pairings and other Apple Pay cards that were used with the Watch.

Step 1: Launch the Apple Watch app on your device and then on the My Watch Screen, select the active watch button.

Step 2: On the right hand side of the current watch, select the information button and then tap the Unpair Apple Watch.

Step 3: Click on Unpair on your watch to confirm. Then, to remove the Activation Lock, you would be prompted to give provide your Apple ID password.

Once this has been completed, all the information stored on your watch would be backed onto your iPhone and your smartwatch would automatically disconnect from your iPhone and the Watch would restore to its default factory settings.

Now, you have the choice to back up all the data on your iPhone to ensure the recent data on your watch remain intact in case of any eventuality.

Unpairing Apple Watch using the Watch settings

Before we delve into this payment method, let me inform you that using this method does not disable Activation Lock, it also doesn’t create an automatic back. What this means is that, as long as the Activation Lock is active, another user would not be able to set up the watch. This means before Activation Lock can be disabled, you would have to visit icould.com using a PC to get that done.

Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your smartwatch

Step 2: Click on erase all content and settings, enter your passcode if you have one enabled and press continue for confirmation.

Step 3: Once that has been done, visit iCloud.com to deactivate Activation Lock.

Sign in using your Apple ID and password. Click the settings tab and then click on Apple Watch found beneath My Devices.

Step 4: Hit the X close to your watch to remove, then confirm removal.

After you have disconnected from your old device. The following steps are taken to pair your iPhone to your Watch.
