How to Download YouTube Playlist on iPhone without PC

Previously, I talked about how to download files on iPhone. In this article, I will show you how to download an entire YouTube playlist on iPhone directly with Siri Shortcuts, which was introduced in iOS 12.

You can just input the URL of the YouTube Playlist and wait for all the videos in the playlist to be downloaded. Surely, you can select some of the videos in the playlist to download.

What if you want to download a music video playlist and save them as MP3? Sure, no problem because I will show you 2 shortcuts here. One will help you download YouTube video as MP4 and the other download YouTube to MP3.

As you know YouTube serves videos in different qualities. The high-quality YouTube video (1080P or above)’s audio is saved separately. If you want to download 1080P YouTube video, you will need to download the audio and video.

This YouTube Playlist downloader shortcut will automatically select the best quality video with audio to download. All videos will be downloaded to your iPhone Camera Roll. If you want to download YouTube playlist as MP3, then all the audio file will be saved in Shortcuts/Music folder in iCloud. You can, of course, listen to them when offline and change the default location.

As mentioned, you only need the Shortcuts app to download entire YouTube Playlist on your iOS device. What if you are using iOS 11 or older version of iOS? No problem. You can use the previous version of Shortcuts, Workflow to do the same.

Step 1. Get this YouTube Playlist Grabber shortcut by open this link in Safari.

Step 2. Copy the URL of the YouTube playlist that you want to download. If you use the YouTube app, tap on the Share button and select Copy Link. You can also run the shortcut from Share Sheet.

Step 3. Open Shortcuts app and run this YouTube Playlist Grabber.

Step 4. If the playlist link you input is correct, you will be prompted to select download all videos from this playlist or select them first. Select one to continue.

Step 5. If you select Download Them All, then you just wait for all video to be downloaded. Otherwise, you need to select a few videos in the playlist to download. 

If you want to download Music videos from YouTube and save the audio only, then here is another shortcut, YT Playlist Audio Grabber. It works the same as the previous shortcut.

The only difference is this shortcut will automatically select the low-quality video and the extracted audio from the video. The YouTube music audio will be automatically saved to iCloud because there is no way to download it to the Music app.

If you want to transfer the downloaded music to your Music library, you will need to use iTunes unless Jailbreak.

When you downloading very long YouTube video, your iPhone may give you Time-out error. In that case, it is recommended to download YouTube videos using a much stable method. IOTransfer is a video downloader as well as iPhone manager tool.
